Do The Blood Labs Ever Stop

Accck... I'm 'fasting' tonight (no food after 10pm) for an early blood draw tomorrow to retest my triglyceride levels which apparently are high (350) despite the fact that I'm getting great exercise and have a very low fat diet. I burn more calories than I take in, I don't drink, my thyroid is fine according to the endocrinologist, and I don't have diabetes (that we know of) which leaves two possible options. I'm either having kidney problems (which has been discussed before) or/and the Accutane I'm on for my dermatological problems is affecting my kidneys and thus causing problems and high triglycerides.

Triglycerides are a type of fat found in your blood and your body uses them for energy. You need some triglycerides for good health but high triglycerides can raise your risk of heart disease and may be a sign of metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome is the combination of high blood pressure, high blood sugar, too much fat around the waist, low HDL ("good") cholesterol, and high triglycerides. Metabolic syndrome increases your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

Normal triglycerides are less than 150.
Borderline-high is 150 to 199.
High is 200 to 499. (mine on Tuesday were at 350)
Very high is 500 or higher.

Omega-3's help a great deal in lowering high triglycerides. I just started taking pharmaceutical grade Omega-3's 4 times daily with each gel capsule containing (EPA)465mg and (DHA)375mg. You just can't get that combination of healthy fatty acids over the counter or even in good fish. I looked and compared because the script is expensive! I just hope it works so that I don't have to come off the Accutane. My back, chest and arm acne is really starting to show progress and my self confidence has been coming back thanks to the clear skin and weight loss. But it seems if it's not one thing it's another these days. It's all about sacrifice and compromise.
