K-9 Pals

I started volunteering at the county's dog adoption program called K-9 Pals today. It's a great no kill program with a lot of wonderful dogs waiting to be adopted. I walked Lucy today and got to work just a little bit on obedience training with her. She was very receptive and held eye contact very well. I can't really take the credit for her obedience as today was my first day and I only spent about an hour with her. She was a sweetie.
The shelter has mostly Pitbull-mix and Chihuahuas. It's odd how dogs go through cultural popularity and phases. It's also sad that for whatever reason these dogs aren't in loving homes filled with people, though I will say there are a lot of caring volunteers out at the shelter.
I am very much looking forward to falling in love with a lot of these dogs and getting to work with and play with them and seeing them adopted to good homes.
